Master Box "Head for the Huey – Vietnam War Series" in 1/35th Scale Kit MB35107This is and outstanding set of what appears to be a Long Range Recon Patrol (LRRP) unit breaking contact with the enemy and making their way to a Landing Zone (LZ) for pickup with their wounded team member. This could be a US Army, Marine or Navy Seal team, only you can decide that. This is another great set for figure painters.
Contains 2 sprues with 136 pieces with little or no flash.
This set contains five (5) figures of what appears to be a LRRP helping one of it's wounded to a pick up point extraction LZ. One member carries the M-3 Grease gun and is throwing a smoke grenade. The next member is carrying the M-79 Grenade Launcher, and the wounded man's AK-47 and pack. Two other members are assisting the wounded man and Carry either a CAR-15 or standard M-16. Each is heavily laden with a variety of weapons and equipment. The second sprue is the same excellent sprue that comes with the Patrolling set MB3599 which gives you a ton of weapons and equipment. Again, the M-16/M-203 that is provided in the set, appears to be the wrong version for the Vietnam era.
The weapons, uniforms and equipment look accurate, all the way down to the Ruck (backpacks) and frame and they do give you lots of extra stuff like four different styles of headgear/covers (Helmet, 2 boonie caps and a ballcap style hat) The box art shows the wounded member with a bandage on his head, while one of the guys helping him has a bandana and the other three members are wearing boonie hats.
Master Box once again is producing five excellent looking figures all in relaxed poses. Individually they are great and can be used as single figures or they can be put into a diorama right out of the box.
Uniforms and equipment are covered in numerous books, so information on these should not be too hard to find.
Overall this should build into an outstanding replica and is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys military soft skinned vehicles. I would like to thank Alexander Surzhenko of Master Box Models for the review kit.
